- 2020 was the year of industry change, as we grappled with the shuttering of performance venues, festivals, and travel due to the pandemic. After so many years honing a craft on the stage or in the studio, shifting to "virtual performances" has very little appeal for me. Forced change offers opportunities for life growth, so the time has come to revitalize my chamber music and shift my focus to composition rather than performance.
- I've been delving deep into mathematics, systems architecture, and software programming, and there are so many interesting parallels between the architecture of these and music: combinatorics, graph theory, counterpoint, and more. Perhaps to become better artists, we need to be willing to step away and view the world through the lens of different disciplines. In the future, I plan to be exploring these connections in my blog.
