Weltschmerz is an independent label I formed in 2001, primarily as a vehicle for my own albums and projects. I've released five albums to date from Kakalla's The Voice of Blood (2001) to my latest release as a leader, Thomson Kneeland: Mazurka for a Modern Man (2010). To date, all projects have been recorded at Warren Amerman's studio in Springfield, MA. The albums also feature the digital artwork of Eve Vick, who creates stunning landscape tapestries. I take care with each album to create a Gesamtkunstwerk: not simply a CD, but a full work of art with text, artwork and various thematic materials all working in tandem, much more in line with vinyl record jackets than plastic CD cases. (I have an entire bookcase full of vinyl albums, and am considering small pressing vinyl releases to come). Future releases are being planned, see my projects page for more information on my musical plans! |
